Founded in 2014 by Andrew Allen and Michelle Donkin, CAST IRON THEATRE produces new writing at Sweet Dukebox, Brighton.
In 2016 we staged our first Brighton Fringe show, YEAR WITHOUT SUMMER - Highly Recommended (Fringe Review). We followed that at Brighton Fringe 2017 with MODEL ORGANISMS - **** (Fringe Guru)
This August we took CACOPHONY, a playful and comedic physical theatre show featuring Heather-Rose Andrews, to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. CACOPHONY was nominated for The Infallibles Award and was described as 'face-achingly funny' **** (Three Weeks).
As a highly collaborative bunch, this year we were delighted to launch the CAST IRON THEATRE PODCAST where we chat to theatre-makers and artists from, or just passing through, Brighton.
We're also busy throughout the year holding regular evenings of short plays by new writers; leading acting, writing and improvisation workshops; hosting seasonal storytelling events and curating poetry evenings.
We're always on the lookout for exciting new writing and we especially welcome narratives with varied, interesting and powerful roles for all those who identify as female. Go to our 'Get Involved' page for more details of our next CAST IRON SHORT PLAY NIGHT.
